THIS WEEK: 60 FDC leaders quit FDC for Muntu’s group

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is dealing with another defection after 60 district leaders announced they had quit the party to join Mugisha Muntu’s New Formation at an event held in Mbarara.

The leaders led by Daniel Kafureka, the General Secretary FDC Mbarara district, said that the inability to reconcile differing strategies made it very difficult for them to be accommodated within the party.

In a strongly worded statement, the FDC leaders of Ankole sub region, “we have tried everything humanly possible to engage our fellow leaders from the defiance group on how best we can harmonise these tendencies and be accommodated within the party but all our efforts yielded no fruits.”

The event happened as FDC President Patrick Amuriat prepared his homecoming party in Soroti.
