Doha, Qatar | QNA | Ghana coach Otto Addo expressed his sadness at his team’s early exit from the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, after losing to Uruguay 0-2 in their match today at Al Janoub Stadium in the final round of Group H fixtures.

In a statement after the match Otto said they were disappointed after the team were knocked out of the competitions today, adding that they sought to fix what happened in the last match. Despite the fact that the team showed a committed performance, they were not successful in translating the opportunities they had to goals, he said.

He pointed out that they were forced to play with a defensive strategy in light of the opposing team’s offensive strength, noting that they should have played in this way, tried to take possession of the ball and relied on counterattacks and a quick shift from defense to attack, especially in the first 20 minutes in the first half, while the Uruguayan team succeeded in scoring in their goal from two chances.

Coach Addo confirmed he would be leaving job immediately. “I said before, it was clear I would stop after the World Cup. At the moment, me and my family see our future in Germany,” Addo said. “I said I would resign after the World Cup even if we were world champions,” he added.
