Xiaomi Unveils REDMI Note 17 Series, marking 500 million shipments milestone

Beijing, China | TECH NEWS  |  Xiaomi has unveiled the REDMI Note 17 Series, the latest generation of its best-selling smartphone lineup, introducing four new models including the first-ever Pro Max variant, the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G.

The launch coincides with a significant milestone for the product line: the REDMI Note Series has now surpassed 500 million shipments worldwide, according to the company.

The new lineup comprises the REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G, REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G, REDMI Note 17 5G, and REDMI Note 17. Xiaomi said the series focuses on extended battery life, faster charging, improved water and drop resistance, and a redesigned exterior, positioning durability as its core selling point in the mid-range segment.

Battery capacity leads the upgrades. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G carries Xiaomi’s largest-ever smartphone battery at 10,000mAh with 16% silicon content in some markets, or 9,210mAh in select markets, paired with 100W charging. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G features an 8,340mAh battery with 67W charging, while the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 both come with a 7,700mAh battery and 45W charging. Xiaomi said the batteries retain at least 80% of their original capacity after 1,600 charge cycles, roughly six years of typical use.

On durability, the two Pro models are the first in the industry to earn TÜV SÜD 5-star Titan Quality Certification, a standard co-developed with the testing firm. The certification covers drop resistance, water resistance across eight testing categories, and battery performance. Both Pro models carry IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings and have passed a two-meter, 72-hour water-resistance test. The lower-tier REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 carry TÜV SÜD 5-star Battery Performance Certification.

Xiaomi is promising up to six years of security updates across the lineup, with select models offering up to six years of battery health.

The Pro models feature a 6.83-inch display with up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and 1.5K resolution, while the REDMI Note 17 5G and REDMI Note 17 offer a larger 6.99-inch display. The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G runs on the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 Mobile Platform, and both Pro models support up to 24GB RAM through memory extension.

AI features include Xiaomi HyperAI on the Pro Max model, with Google Gemini and Circle to Search available across the entire series. Camera capabilities include dual-video recording across the lineup and 4K 30fps video recording on the Pro Max.

The series introduces a refreshed design language with a redesigned camera module, flat display, and dual-finish back panel. The Pro Max model offers an exclusive Cloud Blush finish with a photochromic back cover that shifts from white to pink-orange under UV light.

The REDMI Note 17 Pro Max 5G starts from USD 499 and comes in four storage variants and four color options: Cloud Blush, Green, Purple, and Black. The REDMI Note 17 Pro 5G starts from USD 399 with five storage variants and four colors: Sky Blue, Satin Orange, Purple, and Black.

The REDMI Note 17 5G starts from USD 299 with three storage variants, while the REDMI Note 17 starts from USD 249 with five storage variants. Both come in Celestial Purple, Sky Teal, and Black.

Buyers in eligible markets will receive a six-month Google One trial with 200GB of cloud storage, a two-month YouTube Premium trial, and a three-month Spotify Premium trial at no extra cost. Availability of individual offers varies by market.
