VIDEO: The Court of Appeal Friday afternoon issued an interim order staying James Akena’s Uganda People’s Congress presidency until the main application is handled.
The ruling now halts the implementation of the High Court orders revoking the election of James Akena as president of the Uganda People’s Congress Party (UPC).
Deputy Chief Justice, Steven Kavumaruled that any attempts to remove Akena from the leadership of the party should be stopped, until his main appeal against the High Court ruling is disposed of.
Akena asked the court to restrain his rivals including Joseph Bbosa, Prof. E Kakonge and Otto Imizza from interfering Akena’s leadership and running of the party’s bank accounts. Assistant registrar, Didas Muhumuza delivered the ruling.
