Ssebuufu murder trial resumes with Police report on his mental status

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | Pine Car Bond Proprietor Muhammad Ssebuufu and his accomplices were of sound mind during the alleged commission of the offence of murder of business woman Donah Betty Katusabe.

Katusabe was allegedly tortured to death for failure to pay a Sh9m debt after a car purchase she had made from Ssebuufu’s bond along Lumumba Avenue in Kampala.

The sixth prosecution witness, Police Surgeon Dr Emmanuel Nuwagaba who examined the suspects, told High Court judge Flavia Anglin Ssenoga on Tuesday that he found no physical injuries on them, and were of normal mental status.

Dr. Nuwagaba also confirmed to court that he examined the suspects including Ssebuufu, Phillip Mirambe, Godfrey Kayiza, Paul Tasingika and Steven Lwanga on October 26th 2015, on the request of Central Police Station Kampala.

Ssebuufu and seven co-accused persons are on trial for alleged kidnap and torture of the said business woman a result of which ended her life on October 21, 2015.

Prosecution led by Michael Ojok also alleges that the suspects robbed the deceased of her mobile phone worth sh300, 000.
