Soroti, Uganda | NEWS CORRESPONDENT | With 100 kits to their name, Pearl Bank participated in last weekend’s Teso Run that is part of the commemoration of Emorimor Paul Sande Etomeileng Emolot’s 4th Coronation Anniversary celebrations.
The event provided a great platform to promote cultural heritage, unity and mobilize support for educational and community development initiatives across the Teso sub-region, demonstrating the power of collective action in driving positive social change.
Pearl Banks Soroti Branch Manager Godfrey Otene mentioned that the bank champions sustainable development, which it implements through meaningful partnerships that align with its Corporate Social Investment (CSI) agenda.
Otene said, “Supporting Teso Run 2026 aligns with our CSI agenda, particularly in the areas of environmental sustainability, financial literacy, community empowerment and preservation of culture for future generations.
“We believe empowered communities make stronger contributions to the development of our country, because when an individual or community grows, Uganda prospers.”
Otene added that “Our purpose is to ‘Foster Prosperity’ for Ugandans, and for our people to attain this, they must gain financial literacy, which is a critical tool for economic transformation.”
Through this partnership, Pearl Bank will engage participants in financial literacy sessions aimed at promoting a culture of saving, responsible borrowing, and informed financial decision-making, he said.

He said Pearl Bank’s CSI agenda is guided by three core commitments of Scale, Impact and Sustainability (SIS) in areas like education, financial literacy, health, and the environment, among others.
Chairperson of the Council of Iteso Cultural Union, Toto Nosianta Emechu, hailed the bank for supporting the ongoing 4th Coronation Anniversary celebrations of The Emorimor, which he revealed is one way of preserving the traditions of the Teso Kingdom. He said activities like the coronation anniversary are key in the preservation of identity, history, and shared values, which strengthens community belonging.
After the run, whose theme was ‘For the Child’, celebrations continued, with tree planting and financial literacy.
“We are also pleased that tree planting forms part of this year’s activities because environmental conservation is everyone’s responsibility, and we are proud to support initiatives that contribute to environmental protection, conservation and sustainability,” Otene concluded.
Pearl Bank has actively engaged with participants through an exhibition space where its team interacted with customers, provided financial guidance, and showcased its range of products and service portfolio.
