Police officer in Bukedea detained over cattle theft

Bukedea, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Bukedea police are holding one of their own for alleged theft of cattle. The suspect is Richard Oluwony, who is accused of stealing cattle from Okolimeri village in Bukedea sub county.

Charles Denaya, the acting Bukedea District Police Commander says that the suspect abandoned his assignment on the counter and went to steal cattle using government property.

Angry residents of Okolirmeri who stormed the Resident District Commissioner’s office on Thursday morning say the suspect was guarding an unidentified vehicle that was loading the stolen animals.

The suspect is locked up at Bukedea central police station as investigations into the matter are ongoing.
