Margaret Nakato Kisitu: The natural hair woman

Margaret Kisitu’s Liteside

Any three things that we don’t know about you?

I am rooted in God; God has taken me on this journey and I know that he has put me here for a purpose. Other people say that I am a humble and gentle person which maybe explains why many of my clients connect to me easily.

I am also hardworking and would love other people to climb with me; it’s not interesting when you are up there alone

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Being complete and finding yourself. To be complete is to find God who completes you; it’s a journey of freedom, empowerment, and fulfilment

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

It’s not so easy to bend me when I have decided on something. I, however, know that at some point, you need other people to speak something else.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

Being negative about life; you would rather know nothing than have negative attitude issues.

Which living person do you most admire?

I am a great listener to inspirational speakers; I follow a lot on Oprah. Iyanla Vanzant of ‘Fix my life’ also motivates me. I also love Joyce Meyer because she is real and helps me believe that life belongs to God.

What is your greatest extravagance?

I love movies.

What is your current state of mind?

I am comfortable.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

We dwell so much on what is negative and end up complaining. There is more activity in negative groups. We need to put our mindset to fulfilling our purpose in life.

What does being powerful mean to you?

Being completely grounded in God.

On what occasion do you lie?

I try to pursue a righteous journey and at a time of fall, there are strong convictions that won’t let me keep with a lie for long.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

I like me ever since I embarked on this natural hair journey.

Which living person do you most despise?

My mind doesn’t draw so much to what I don’t need so I focus on those I need.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Grounded in God.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Grounded in God.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

Maria Babirye, my twin is another me. I also love my immediate and extended family.

When and where were you happiest?

The first time I jumped onto a plane to travel to another country. When I tested God with one prayer of choosing for me a husband and he surely did. It was another defining moment that you can ask God for something and it actually comes to pass. Every growing experience of Afros and Mo is a happy one.

Where would you most like to live?

I love Uganda as home; it’s a place where God has blessed me.

What is your most treasured possession?

There is a place in me that is pure; it’s a safe place for me and hardly depresses me.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

I have heard my share of suffering but one place I wouldn’t wish anyone to be is a place of helplessness. If not careful, it can make life seem so meaningless.

What is your favorite occupation?

I am at a place in life where I discovered my trade. It’s not just about hair as a business but passion and responsibility so I can’t trade it for anything.

What do you most value in your friends?

Sincerity and comfort around them.

Who are your favorite writers?

Florence Scovel Shinn’s writings have literally changed my life. She helps me demystify life and know how to live from inside than out. She frees me a lot from negativity and depression.

Denzel Washington knows how to pick his character and his stories have purpose. There is something I relate to his personal life that has to do with his level of godliness.

God service is a real spirit of humility.
