Entebbe, Uganda | PHILLIP CORRY | Former Uganda Open champion Deo Akope moved two steps up the leaderboard when Day 2 of the MTN Pro Tee at Entebbe Club concluded this afternoon.
Akope, now at 5 under par 139 over 36 holes after his 69 score today, is joint leader with Rodel Gaita (70).
“I stuck to my same game plan and routine for today’s round. I have been hitting around 14 to 15 greens on the course, and that momentum will certainly remain for the remaining two rounds,” Akope said. “You might miss a few shots on the course, but the rhythm and status should be the same.”
Ronald Otile, who was a joint leader yesterday, dropped to 12th position with a score of 3 over par 78.
Leg 1 winner Abraham Ainamani (70) is one shot off the lead with a score of 4 under par 138.
The highest climber on the leaderboard is Irene Nakalembe (67), who moved 9 steps up to joint fourth with 1 under par 141 together with Uganda Pro Open winner Ronald Rugumayo.
Nakalembe and UPGA secretary Evah Magala are the only ladies taking part in this leg.
Sixteen professionals made the cut out of 40 entrants
The second leg of the Pro Tee gives an opportunity for the golfers to gain ranking points ahead of the Grand Finale in December.
