THIS WEEK: Districts with poor planning to miss funding
Minister of State for Planning David Bahati has issued a stern warning to districts and municipalities saying those without approved plans by August will not get budget funding. Bahati revealed that only 30 districts out of 157, have approved plans.
105 have draft plans and 22 have nothing completely. Bahati told district officials at the annual development planners meeting in Kampala that they must align their plans with the National Development Plan II by the end of August to receive any funding from the ministry for the second quarter. Ministries, departments and agencies are also required to have similar plans aligned with the National Development Plan II.
