UPDF soldier shot one over land wrangles in Teso

A UPDF officer Capt Eliano Franco attached to the Chieftaincy of Production shot and injured one person over land wrangles in Bululu Sub County in Kaberamaido district.

The suspect one Capt Eliano moved in company of an LC I chairman and other village mates to the Sub County headquarters to inspect the Land that he alleges he bought in Napyanga village, Kibimo parish, Bululu Sub County.


Kaberamaido district has a history of land wrangles.  According to the reliable sources that intimated The Independent Magazine on phone, Capt Eliano secretly moved with his weapon (AK- 47) with intention to kill.

As they moved together one person noticed that Capt Eliano was in possession of a gun and called the police.  However, it was too late since the armed military man shot dead one person threatening to even shoot at others.

Fortunately police in company of UPDF intelligence in Teso led by Maj Okuboi swung in action.

The third Division spokesman Capt Deo Akiiki says UPDF investigative body SIB will work jointly with police to establish the truth of the matter.

He called upon the people in the area to cooperate with the two teams to reach a logical and judicial conclusion in the matter.

He appealed to the two sides in this land wrangles and the entire public in Bululu to remain calm and show maximum restraint to avoid further escalation of land conflicts in the area.

Capt Akiiki says Teso sub region has bad memories of rebel activities that UPDF defeated several years ago and therefore Land wrangles should not be allowed to be a new source of insecurity.
