Uganda Police confirm Belgian, German deaths

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  Six foreign nationals have died in Uganda in February, the latest being a German and Belgian,  Police has confirmed.

“The German national, Hans Jurgen Vallant, died on February 23 2018 as he was being taken to Nsambya Hospital for medical attention and he was pronounced dead on arrival. He had been admitted at Case Hospital for two days. A postmortem report confirmed that he died of heart attack,” the statement signed by Police spokesman Emilian Kayima stated.

The statement added that,  “Today, another foreign national, a Belgian Eric Yvomr, 54 was found, having committed suicide according to his woman friend, one Joseline Mupfasoni, a Burundian national, a resident of Muyenga B at Vermigo apartments. A postmortem report confirms it.

The deaths of foreign nationals came to the fore early in the month with the mysterious demise of Swede Alex Sebastian at Sheraton Hotel and Tersvouri Toomajuha Petteri from Finland at the Pearl of Africa Hotel. Police said their toxicology reports indicated they were killed by narcotic drugs.

Last week, two other foreigners, Montie Guy Watson from the US and Rita Charlotee from Sweden, tourists visiting national park Murchison Falls died in separate incidents related to ill health, according to the police.
