Uganda human rights body pays tribute to Japan’s former PM Abe

 

Today morning, the Chairperson of Uganda Human Rights Commission, Justice Mariam Wangadya (middle) together with Member  Crispin Kaheru and staff today paid their last respect to the late former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe who was assassinated last Friday. The delegation was received at the Embassy of Japan in Kampala by Ambassador Fukuzawa Hidemoto.

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A delegation from the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC) has visited the Japan embassy in Kampala to pay their last respects to former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. Abe was assassinated on Friday July 8, 2022 at a campaign trail in the city of Nara – Japan.

The delegation was led by the  Chairperson of the Uganda Human Rights Commission Justice Mariam Wangadya was received by Ambassador Fukuzawa Hidemoto. Others who wrote their condolence messages in the condolence book were member of the commission  Crispin Kaheru and staff of UHRC; Senior Human Rights Officer Pauline Nansamba Mutumba together with Alex Bukumunhe.

Chairperson Justice Wangadya extended her deepest condolences to the Japanese people and the family of the late former Premier.

“I extend my deepest condolences to the Japanese people and family of the late former Premier Shinzo Abe who was assassinated on Friday as he participated in democratic processes.”

Kaheru, a Member of the Commission, noted that the late was ” a global unifier, loyal, committed and a selfless, servant leader of his people. ”

The Japan Ambassador appreciated the team from Uganda Human Rights Commission UHRC for condoling with him and the people of Japan.

Japan is a major development partner with Uganda, providing million of dollars in projects from roads, to health and education.
