Two contacts of Covid-19 positive truck driver quarantined in Kisoro

Uganda-Rwanda border of Chanika

Kisoro, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |  Two people have been quarantined at Kisoro Primary Teachers College in Kisoro district after it emerged that they got into contact with a COVID-19 positive truck driver at Uganda-Rwanda border of Chanika last week.

Nick Muneza, the Assistant District Health Officer Kisoro, says that the two are money changers operating at Chanika.  Muneza says that they were quarantined after their investigations found that one of the money changers conducted a money transaction with the truck driver.

It also emerged that the second money changer received a bunch of banana from a truck driver before he crossed to Rwanda.

Captain Peter Mugisha, Kisoro Resident District Commissioner says that the money changers will spend 14 days under quarantine and health experts will collect samples from them for analysis against COVID-19.

Mugisha also warned the residents against getting in contact with truck drivers.

The truck driver is currently admitted at Kabale regional referral hospital while the turn boy is under quarantine at St Francis Mutorere hospital in Kisoro. The driver of the ambulance who drove the truck driver to Kabale regional referral hospital was also put under quarantine at Mutorere hospital.

This is after the truck driver helped him replace a flat tyre while on the way to Kabale regional referral hospital.
