THIS WEEK: Court sets April 17 to deliver Verdict on Kaweesi murder case

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Nakawa Grade one Magistrates’ court has set April 17 to deliver verdict on whether or not to dismiss a case in which 15 suspects are accused of taking part in the murder of former police spokesperson AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

This follows several attempts by the suspects’ lawyers to have the case dismissed but Magistrate Noah Sajjabbi has always proceeded with the case even as prosecution has failed to conclude investigations.

One of the lawyers AnthonyWameli said the fact that state attorneys have not made it to court is an indicator that they are no longer interested in the court.

He said this wasn’t the first time for this to happen but whenever they apply for dismissal of the case, their plea is never heard.

Now, they have asked that the court refers the matter to High Court for further interpretation.
