Rugby Cranes leave for SA camp Saturday

Rugby Cranes before kick off during the Elgon Cup tie in Kampala

The Rugby Cranes depart for a training camp in South Africa on Saturday ahead of tough Tier 1A Rugby Afrique fixtures next month.

The Cranes will train with Cheetahs Club in South Africa with whom they have a rugby partnership. Two coaches from the club have handled the Cranes before.

Fresh from a 48-10 routing by Kenya Simba in the Elgon Cup last Saturday,  the Cranes will host Namibia in Kampala, play away to Zimbabwe and Kenya. The Kenya game will also be the return leg of the Elgon Cup.

Team manager Emma Baine who is handling the travel arrangements says everything is on course and they should be leaving on Saturday.

While handing over rugby equipment to Uganda Rugby Union late last month, South Africa Ambassador to Uganda gave reassurance that the team travel would be processed expeditiously.

Coach Robert Seguya is sticking with his young team and there are likely to be no additions to the team that played the Elgon Cup.
