Mubende, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Mubende police are holding a young man accused of kidnapping and killing a 10 year old girl. The suspect is 18-year Vanasio Aryatuha, a resident of Lyagazi village, Lyangoma parish, Kigando sub county in Mubende district. The deceased is Aisha Alinitwe.
The deceased’s friend, also a minor says that they went with Alinitwe to fetch water and found Vanasio cutting logs. She said the suspect told the deceased that he had her mother’s money, which he wanted to give her.
She says that she called Alinitwe after sometime but there was no response, prompting her to return home and inform her mother, Scovia Kyampiire, who in turn informed Alinitwe’s mother.
Kyampiire says that together with the deceased’s mother, they went where the suspect was burning charcoal and started searching for the minor in vain.
Officers from Mubende police station picked up Aryatuha who led them to the place where he had hidden the deceased’s body. He confessed to defiling and killing the minor fearing that she would report him to her parents.
The deceased’s father, Yasin Mwebesa says that the death of her daughter found him in the garden. He asked police to conduct thorough investigations and punish the culprit.
The Wamala Region Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala says they have charged Aryatuha with kidnap, defilement and murder as investigations are ongoing.
