Lira city clerk perishes in road crash

Lira City Town Clerk, Theophilus Tibihika

Lira, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Lira City Town Clerk, Theophilus Tibihika has perished in a road crash along the Lira- Apac road. Tibihika met his death on Monday morning when his Toyota Hilux double cabin pickup number UAM 450V overturned along the Lira- Apac road in  Akalo in Kole District.

Although the cause of the crash is yet to be established, locals say the vehicle lost control and overturned multiple times. He was reportedly on his way to Kampala through the Masindi Port Ferry.

Lira City Mayor Sam Atul confirmed the news describing it as a big blow to the city and the entire Lango region. The deceased’s body has been retrieved and conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.

Tibihika joined Lira City Council as the Town Clerk in June 2022 from Fort Portal City. This is the second road crash in Lango, which has claimed lives within just two days. The first happened on Saturday night when a minibus carrying Lango Fufa drum players and fans collided with a Fuso lorry along Lira- Soroti road, killing three people including two children.
