Entebbe, Uganda | PHILLIP CORRY | The Kenyan winner of the 2019 Uganda Open Jastas “Pastor” Madoya, is back for the Pearl of Africa Sunshine Development tour at the par 71 Entebbe Club.
The towering professional golfer has fond memories of the lakeside course.
“It’s a beautiful and breezy course, and I love playing on it,” Madoya said in an interview in the clubhouse ahead of day one.
“My greatest moments on this course are me winning the 2019 Entebbe Open and the Uganda Open in 2021. To me, Entebbe is like my second home.”
Madoya tees off tomorrow with Sunshine tour Pro Chante Van Zyl of South Africa and Ugandan amateur Michael Kijjambu.
A total of 122 Professional and Elite Amateurs are taking part in this Sunshine Development tour tournament, which is also an official world ranking golf tournament and has attracted professional golfers from Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, South Africa, Zambia, Eswatini, Nigeria, England, Zimbabwe, Malawi.
The total prize money for this tour is 79 million. The tournament is sponsored by Exim Bank, Uganda Tourism Board, Vivo Energy, Case MedInsurance, MTN Momo, Castle Lite, Aquafina, and Pepsi Uganda
