Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi has urged clan elders to revive a tradition of registering members of their clans.

He said registration was among many responsibilities they had in their efforts to revive Buganda culture and traditions. The Kabaka thanked the clan elders for the work they are doing and stressed the importance of registering clan members.

Kabaka Mutebi made the remarks at an end-of-year party for clan elders at the palace in Mengo on Tuesday. There are 54 clans in Buganda.

He also highlighted six issues that should concern the Buganda elders. That is, floods across the country,  HIV, rampant murders, abuse of human rights, land disputes and tours of clan headquarters
