Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Ronald Rugumayo, will have to be at his fittest in the early part of the season 2024 if he is to achieve his year’s ambition to make a mark internationally.

Rugumayo, will start his quest to qualify for the Magical Open, this week when he takes part in the Safari Tour that tees off from the 7-10 January at the Sigona Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya.

Rugumayo, who registered an ace at last year’s Magical Kenya Open and becoming the first East African golfer to achieve that feat will be vying for better fortunes this year.

“February will depend on whether he qualifies for MKO. Nevertheless, he has four challenge tour events where he has to play pre-q tournaments and finish top 10,” Peter Mujuni, his manager stated.

Next month he will take part in the SDC Open from the 1-4 February and follow up that with the Brain’s Whisky Cape Town from 8-11 February.

The NMB Championship clashes with the Magical Kenya Open which runs from 22-25 February.

Rugumayo is sponsored by Rwanda Air, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa and his golf kitted by Callaway.

“We have also lined up a qualifier for him to enter the next two DP World Tour events,” Mujuni added.

Other scheduled tournaments include the SDC Championship from February 29-3 March and the Jonsson Workwear Open from 7-10 March all in South Africa.
