Former Bunya South MP Kyeyago succumbs to Covid-19

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The former Bunya South Member of Parliament, Jowali K. Kyeyago has succumbed to the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Kyeyago, also a former delegate in the Assembly of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) died yesterday afternoon at the Jinja based Nile International Hospital.

Kyeyago who had battled diabetes is reported to have contracted COVID-19 while admitted in one of the private clinics in Kampala last month. His relatives later transferred him to Nile International Hospital after failing to secure a bed in the Intensive Care Unit in Kampala.

A family member told Uganda Radio Network (URN) that all Kyeyago’s close family members have been asked to self isolate as a means of controlling the spread of COVID-19.

Abdullah Kagwa, a family member says that Kyeyago had battled COVID-19 for close to three weeks, but despite the specialized treatment offered to him, his situation kept on deteriorating. He said Kyeyago will be laid to rest in Kityerera sub county in Mayuge district on Saturday.

Kyeyago was the parliamentary representative of Bunya South constituency in Mayuge district between 2006-2011.

He also vied for the same position during the January 2021 general elections but lost to Iddi Isabirye.
