David Masanso’s Liteside

Any three things that we don’t know about you?

I am a workaholic person; I just want to work and achieve. I want to wake up one day knowing that I have a legacy in the animations industry in Africa. I don’t work for only money but pride in the opportunity to train other people and see them thrive. I love to see a positive change in people’s lives guided by my animations.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Every time when we work on a project as a team and it turns out successful. Happiness is that inner joy achieved from satisfaction and success.

What is your greatest fear?

My fear lies in what I would do without the creative industry.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

Sometimes I work so hard without leaving ‘me time’.

What is the trait you most deplore in others?

We only need to appreciate others; I don’t mind about traits in other people because we are human beings and therefore bound to change. We are not programmed like machines or other artificial things to work in a certain way.

Which living person do you most admire?

I don’t admire anyone because our journeys are different.

What is your greatest extravagance?

Internet connection is my life; it’s where I get inspiration to kick-start my projects.

What is the greatest thing you have ever done?

Training young people in animation; we are growing together and the changing trends in technology, content and the dynamics point to animations as Africa’s next big industry.

What do you consider the most overrated virtue?

Success is overrated; working towards achieving success is a team effort but at the end, few people are credited. There are people who are equally working hard but lack such inspiration in their areas. We should thus have the stories of back benchers shared to inspire more young people.

What does being powerful mean to you?

The ability to overcome fear for the unseen.

What do you most dislike about your appearance?

Not any.

Which living person do you most despise?

I don’t despise anyone but hate those who fake life.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?

Everyone needs to keep in their spaces and not to bring others down.

What is the quality you most like in a man?

Keeping in his space.

What or who is the greatest love of your life?

I love the people I work with in creating animations.

When and where were you happiest?

2003 when I received the letter of acceptance for admission into Swansea University to pursue a degree in computer animations.

Which talent would you most like to have?

I used to like riding bicycles but the work pressures can’t allow that anymore.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

I am so much immersed in doing animations but believe that there is a lot more than I can do. I haven’t only explored my other strengths but would love to.

Where would you most like to live?

Uganda is my home.

What is your most treasured possession?

My career journey in animations.

What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery?

As long as one is a human being, expect low and high moments as part of life. It’s from such that we learn to do better.

What is your favourite occupation?

I can’t imagine myself doing anything outside animations.

What do you most value in your friends?

Working together to achieve our dreams even when destination and background may be different.

Who are your favorite writers?

Robin Sharma in his book ‘Who will cry when you die’; I have taken many lessons from his book communicating about the realities of life.

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

I would love to identify with the many unseen heroes who work tooth and nail to change the world. Many times, we focus on few individuals yet their rise was a result of team work. Most stories about such people are untold.

What is your greatest regret?

I wish my parents were still living to witness me walk and live my dream of positively changing Africa through animations. They believed in my dream.

How would you like to die?

It doesn’t matter.

What is your motto?

Rise as a team or fall as individuals.
