Jinja, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Busoga United on Tuesday beat Kitara FC 2-1 during the premier league game played at the Njeru-based FUFA technical center.

Busoga’s first goals were scored by Jeremy Matata, and Emmanuel Ajo, respectively, whereas, Kitara’s lone goal was scored through a penalty by Paul Muchurezi.

Kitara was stronger in the first 10 minutes of play, only to concede an unexpected goal from Busoga.

They seemed stable after scoring a goal in the early minutes of the second half, however, Busoga earned another goal, which largely increased the intensity of the game, with both sides struggling to consolidate their gains in the game.

Kitara’s head coach, Brian Ssenyondo says that after winning last week’s game 7-1 against Arua Hills, their main target was to dominate the game with a comfortable win, but their hopes were cut short by mistakes in the defense, which were manipulated by their hosts to score two goals.

Ssenyondo asserts that the boys trained hard and prepared well for today’s game, well aware of the resistance to expect from their hosts, but their efforts never materialized into earning the desirable three points in the game.

Busoga’s head coach, Peter Onen said that their game plan was to earn all the maximum points of the game, as a means of moving away from the red line, which they successfully achieved.

Onen further says that their season’s target is largely to remain in the league and the boys are committed to making positive steps away from the relegation zone.

Busoga currently stands in the 12th position of UPL with 15 points, two steps away from the relegation zone.

Kitara is currently contending for this season’s trophy, with 26 points gathered throughout their Uganda Premier league-UPL games, making them second placed against BUL FC, who are topping the table standings with 32 points.
