Arua, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Senior Procurement Officer for Yumbe district, Taban Kana, and Siraj Anule, an official of Miribe Foundation Limited, have been arrested for soliciting a bribe from a contractor.

They have been arrested by detectives from the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Kana is accused of soliciting a bribe of 23 million shillings from Emmanuel Obua, the Managing Director of Apogee Logistics Company as a condition to be awarded the contract for the construction of culverts and the rehabilitation of a 4.3 km access road for the financial year 2022/2023.
