According to Bagiire Vincent Waiswa, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting aims to deliberate on pertinent issues affecting the members of NAM and will come out with a position on Palestine and Gaza.

The meeting is expected to defend the longstanding NAM positions and uphold international humanitarian law and UN resolutions.

On the agenda will also be poverty eradication as a core UN 2030 Agenda objective; the need for a revitalized global partnership; and the implementation of the Addis Ababa Action Agenda, the Sevilla Commitment, and SDG 17 together with strengthening multilateralism and reformingglobal governance (UN, financial architecture, MDBs) to reflect current realities and Global South needs.

Final consultations among member states are currently ongoing on the outcome documents to be adopted by ministers of foreign affairs during the meeting.

Given the nature of the meeting, there will be controlled access in and around Munyonyo, and the Public is requested to support the Government in ensuring the success of the conference through complying with any traffic control measures that will be put in place.
