Police launches festive season crackdown on criminals

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Kampala Metropolitan Police announced that operations to rid the city of criminals have begun in preparation for the holiday season.

According to police, this is to ensure community security and safety as many people begin shopping and planning trips ahead of Christmas.

In a statement, police said that intelligence-led operations began from Kira Road Police Division, Jinja Road and Kajjansi Police Stations.

For instance, in Balintumwa zone, Kiwatule parish, Nakawa division in Kampala district, an operation led by Kira Road Police officers arrested several criminal suspects. The operation targeted criminal activity, including drug-related offences, along the Northern Bypass.

A total of nine suspects were arrested and numerous exhibits were seized during the operation, underscoring the commitment to maintaining a safe environment for citizens
