NTV confirms Aggie Konde’s departure

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT Nation Media Group CEO Joe Muganda has today confirmed that NTV Managing Director Aggie Asiimwe Konde is moving to Msingi East Africa.

Briefing staff of  Africa Broadcasting Uganda LTD. (NTV/SPARK TV) Thursday morning, Muganda confirmed Konde had got a great offer in the region, and would leave effective 8th September.

“She is leaving because she received a good opportunity and not anything like we are reorganising the business,” Muganda told staff, dismissing reports her departure was related to their media integration efforts that have seen Daniel Kalinaki moved from Nairobi to head the Kampala Nation Media Group operations.

“The social media rumour mill is that we are merging but social media forgets that we’re talking jobs, families, people.  If I am making any changes, I will be open, honest and upfront about it. These brands are not going anywhere.”

Konde thanked fellow staff for the support during her four years at the helm of the business.

Johnson Omolo will be acting MD of Africa Broadcasting Uganda LTD (NTV/SPARK TV).

Who are Msingi?

Msingi is an ambitious and innovative young industry development organisation aimed at supporting the growth of competitive industries in East Africa. Msingi works to identify high potential industries around the region. It then aims to foster innovation, growth and increased competitiveness in these industries by supporting pioneering firms through technology transfer (for example, facilitating joint ventures between local and international firms), capability building and access to finance.

Msingi will also help foster an enabling environment for the industry – e.g. supporting technology research and development, training, policy or key industry institutions. Ultimately, Msingi’s goal is to contribute to the structural transformation of East Africa’s economies, driving long term prosperity. Msingi will operate over the long term (20+ years), building world-class knowledge and expertise with private sector DNA at its heart.
