Naggenda appointed KACITA acting chairperson

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Kampala City Traders Association (KACITA) has appointed Thadeus Musoke Nagenda as their acting chairperson

The development comes following the death of Everest Kayondo in June this year. Kayondo who led the association for close to 16 years succumbed to COVID-19.

In a press conference held at their offices in Kampala, the association announced Nagenda as their acting chairperson. He was appointed in an extra ordinary meeting held on August 11th, 2021 by the board and other stake holders. His term of office started yesterday until when their next annual general meeting will be held.

Nagenda who has been the associations secretary general for 4 years and also former aspirant for Mukono North parliamentary seat, has been a member of the association for close to 15 years at different levels of service. He holds a master’s degree in business administration and a diploma in journalism. He is the director of Keno giants, an electronics dealership at Kirumira towers in Kampala city.

In his first address as the association chairperson, he said their major focus will be on continuity of the associations’ operations and service delivery to its partners and the business community. He said they will also be handling the challenges affecting the business community which were brought about by the recently eased lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

He emphasized that KACITA is committed to serving the business community, and on the rent arrears, the association board resolved they will engage the arcade landlords which has already started.

Nagenda added that they are also engaging Bank of Uganda, ministry of finance and ministry of trade so that government intervenes on the issue of loans. He said they are requesting that the banks have special considerations to these people.

The association also made it clear that Issa Ssekitto is the spokesperson, deputized by Omulangla Jjemba Mulondo, vice chairperson is Hope Katwiine, organizing secretary Brian Bravo, director finance is Tim Baguma. He called upon the media fraternity to cooperate with the association to ensure effectiveness in communication flow.
