Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT |  It will be an all-Ugandan men’s final at the FIBA Africa Zone 5 Club Championships unless Kenyan side KPA and Rwanda’s Patriots can do what everyone else has failed to do – stop City Oilers and Power from winning.

True to form, City Oilers and Power marched easily into the semi-finals on Thursday after brushing aside their Ethiopian basketball opponents. The semifinals are set for Friday night.

Power center Mike Makiadi scored a game high 17 points and Paul Odong 14 points as they gave basketball lessons to Hawassa. It ended 84-44.

City Oilers also secured their semifinal place without Adarius Pegues and shooting guard Stephen Omony who were rested.

Landry Ndikumana and James Okello got 14 points each as the the tournament’s defending champions marched to a 98-52 win over Gondar.

Patriots and KPA lost one game each in the group stages – defeats coming at the hands of Ugandan clubs. City Oilers edged Patriots 77-73 while Power beat KPA 73-60.
