Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Huawei Technologies Uganda Company Limited will on Friday, August 21, 2026, hold a campus recruitment drive at Kyambogo University as part of its efforts to identify and develop young ICT talent and strengthen the link between universities and industry.
The recruitment exercise, scheduled to take place at CTF 106 from 8am to 1pm, will target final- year students and recent graduates seeking opportunities in Uganda’s fast-growing technology sector.
Held under the theme “The Sky Is the Limit” and the slogan “A Better U for a Better Uganda,” the initiative is designed to support young professionals as they transition from university into the workplace while giving them an opportunity to engage directly with industry leaders.
The programme will attract students and graduates from a range of disciplines, including Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Computer Science, Finance, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Human Resources and Public Administration.
Officials said the recruitment campaign is part of its broader commitment to strengthening Uganda’s digital skills base and preparing young people for opportunities created by the country’s digital transformation.
For more than 25 years, Huawei has supported skills development and digital inclusion in Uganda through programmes such as the Huawei ICT Competition, Huawei ICT Academy, Seeds for the Future, the National ICT Job Fair and the Huawei Campus Recruitment Programme.
These initiatives have been implemented in partnership with universities, government institutions and other stakeholders to promote digital skills, expand access to technology and support the development of local talent, including increased participation of young women in technology.
The Kyambogo recruitment drive will give participants an opportunity to interact with Huawei executives, learn about career opportunities within the company and present themselves for potential full-time employment and internship opportunities.
Participants will also hear from former Huawei campus recruits and alumni about their experiences working for the company and making the transition from university into the corporate environment.
Beyond recruitment, Huawei said successful candidates will be supported through a structured career development programme intended to help them build practical skills and adapt to professional work environments.
The programme will include one-on-one mentorship, where new employees will be paired with experienced professionals, as well as opportunities to participate in real-world projects linked to Uganda’s digital transformation.
Recruits will also have access to Huawei’s structured training programmes and digital learning platforms, including iLearning and 3MS, enabling them to continue developing their technical and professional skills.
The company is encouraging eligible students and graduates to register in advance, upload their academic transcripts and CVs, and attend the recruitment exercise prepared to explore career opportunities in the technology industry.
The initiative comes as Uganda continues to expand its digital economy, increasing demand for skilled professionals capable of supporting the growth of telecommunications, software development, cybersecurity, digital services and other technology-driven sectors.
Through its campus recruitment programme, Huawei seeks to deepen collaboration between academia and industry while creating pathways for young Ugandans to acquire practical experience and contribute to the country’s digital transformation.
