Former deputy speaker shoots himself in parliament

Lilongwe, Malawi | AGENCIES | The former Deputy Speaker of Malawi’s parliament Clement Chiwaya has reportedly shot himself dead in front of the Clerk of Parliament, inside the parliament building.

He shot himself in front of the Clerk of Parliament Fiona Kalemba, according to spokesperson for Parliament Ian Mwenye.

“We have since reported the matter to police. They are better placed to give more details,” Mwenye said.

He said Parliament of Malawi will issue a detailed statement later.
