Kisoro, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | SC Volcanoes have capped their preparations for their FUFA Big League debut season by bringing in experienced coach Sempigi Sadick.
He joins a few days after quitting the newly promoted Uganda Premier League side Kigezi HomeBoyz. This just months after he guided the Kabale-based club to a historic promotion.
Sempigi played a key role in Kigezi HomeBoyz’s successful campaign that secured the club a place in Uganda’s top-flight league for the first time in its history.
“We believe his experience, ambition and understanding of the game make him the right person to lead us into this important chapter,” said Dr. Martin Mbonye, Club President. “Welcome to SC Volcanoes, Mr. Sadick. We are the Kabiranyumas, SINE LIMITIBUS.”
He was later introduced to the patron of the club, Robert Mukiza, who is director general of the Uganda Investment Authority.
Ahead of the new season, Stephen Muneza, the club’s Commercial and Sponsorship Director, said that the club’s vision is for SC Volcanoes Kisoro (formerly Mutolere Sports Club) to become more than a football club.
“We aspire to be a proud ambassador for tourism, investment, and community development, using sport to tell the story of one of Africa’s most remarkable destinations.”
“As we compete in the FUFA Big League, our matches will take us to West Nile, Northern, Eastern, Central, and other parts of Uganda, providing a national platform to promote Kisoro’s world-renowned attractions, including the home of half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, the breathtaking Virunga Volcanoes, the scenic lakes, rolling hills, and the rich cultural heritage of Kigezi.”
