Court threatens to dismiss Museveni’s case against two musicians

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | Buganda Road Court Tuesday threatened to dismiss a case of offensive communication against two local Musicians; accused of disturbing the peace of President Museveni, since no witness is willing to testify to this effect.

David Mugema and Jonathan Muwanguzi are alleged to have sung and produced a song titled “Mzee Wumula” in which they attacked the person and age of the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

They committed the offence between 2015 and 2017 at Salama road in Makindye Division-Kampala district.

And in December last year they were arrested, charged in court and remanded in luzira prison for two weeks.

However, they came expecting their trial to start, but Prosecution’s Abdul-Salaam Waiswa informed presiding Grade One Magistrate Gladys Kamasanyu, that he did not summon any witness because he has no Police File.

Magistrate Kamasanyu has now given Prosecution the last chance until April 13, 2018 to trace for the case file and summon witnesses if at all he is interested in prosecuting the accused persons.
