The NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) has given the all clear to 43 of their aspirants to contest in the party’s caucus elections for EALA representation due on Tuesday.

CEC, chaired by President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe, vetted the National Resistance Movement (NRM) aspirants and found all of them eligible to contest for six positions allocated to the party in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Earlier, the chairman of the party’s electoral commission Dr. Tanga Odoi expressed disappointment with a section of Members of Parliament (MPs) for asking for bribes from candidates seeking to represent the party in the East African legislative assembly.

The 43 candidates complained to Odoi that some members of parliament were demanding money in form of cash and others in form of transport refund and refreshments from the candidates before meeting them.

Odoi says such solicitation shall not be allowed warning that any MP found asking for money from the candidates and any candidate found giving out money while campaigning will be punished.

Among the candidates is former minister of state for economic monitoring in the office of the president Henry Banyenzaki, PR and media practitioner Sarah Kagingo, former minister Francis Babu and James Tweheyo, the national secretary for Uganda National Teachers Union.
