Budaka health centre IV on the spot over fake Covid-19 results

Budaka, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | A section of councilors in Budaka district have asked the police to investigate allegations that Budaka health center IV issued them with fake Covid-19 test results.

The councilors include Paul Kungu of Kakule sub county, Jude Kalyebi of Budaka town council and Tademeri sub-county, Hellen Aguramu of Kamonkoli sub county and Godfrey Mbayo of Kabuna sub county.

According to the councilors, when they were tested at Budaka health center IV to enable them to attend the council meeting, they tested positive for Covid-19. However, they were not contented with the results and went to Nansanga health center III and Mbale Regional Hospital for confirmatory tests which all turned negative.

URN has seen copies of the test results from all three health facilities including Budaka health center IV, Nansanga and Mbale Referral Hospital.

Hellen Aguramu, the councilor for Kamonkoli sub county and the town council questioned the move to alter the results.

Kalyebi, councilor Budaka town council says that many people have shunned her business after hearing that she had tested positive. She also says that she can’t freely associate with her electorate.

Kungu called for a thorough investigation of the Covid-19 district taskforce officials.

Dr Erisa Mulwani, the district health official declined to comment on the matter but Dr Winnie Mutaki, the in charge of Budaka health centre dismissed claims that the councilors were given fake results.
