Bryan White shooting case heads for out-of-court settlement

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI |  The attempted murder case filed against city socialite Brian Kirumira aka  Bryan White is headed for an out-of-court settlement, court heard on Monday.

The development was communicated by prosecution’s Happiness Ainebyona to Makindye Court Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza.

Ayinebyona told court that the investigating officer in this case took the file for purposes of facilitating an out of court negotiations between the parties, and all they need is sometime to see if these talks yield fruit.

An agreement for amicable settlement reached between the two parties compelled Magistrate Kakooza to adjourn the case to April 09, 2018.

Bryan White together with his body guard corporal Thomas Okoth are alleged to have shot at Victor Bitwire his neighbor, on the night of December 13, 2018 at  Buziga Munyonyo in Kampala.

Bryan White was arrested on December 13, 2017 after allegedly shooting and injuring Bitwire. He is out on bail.

Prosecution states that Kirumira, 32, businessman and resident of Munyonyo-Buziga, Makindye Division in Kampala District and Okot, 28, a police officer attached to Crime Intelligence Headquarters, resident of Mulago Zone, Kawempe Division in Kampala District on December 13, 2017 at Munyonyo -Buziga in Kampala attempted unlawfully to cause the death of Bitwire.

    A criminal case can not be settled ou of court.(full stop!)
    But in banana Republic Uganda, anything goes
