Kabale, Uganda | URN | All is set for the episcopal ordination and installation of the new Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rev. Fr. Bonaventure Bosco Katusiime Gubazire.
The ceremony is scheduled for today Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Ignatius University Kabale grounds along the Kabale-Kisoro Road in Mwanjari, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality.
Gubazire, 52, whose appointment as Bishop of Kabale Diocese was declared on July 15, 2026, by Rev. Fr. Georges Kwami Kouwono, Chargé d’Affaires of the Apostolic Nunciature in Uganda, will succeed Rt. Rev. Callistus Rubaramira, who has served as Bishop of Kabale Diocese for the past 23 years.
Preparations for the ceremony were in high gear on Friday afternoon, with workers erecting tents, arranging seats and installing sound and lighting systems. Large screens have also been installed to enable guests to follow the ceremony, while nuns were seen decorating the venue with flowers. Police officers were also deployed at the venue as part of security arrangements ahead of the event.
Some businessmen were also strategically installing stalls of clothes bearing names and pictures of Rev.Fr. Gubazire and others with church related labels while targeting to mint cash from the ceremony.
The Diocesan Vicar General, Msgr. Dr. John Vianney Sunday, says about 20,000 people, including religious leaders and faithful, are expected to attend the ceremony. He says the diocese has received sufficient financial contributions to facilitate the event, although he declined to disclose the budget.
Sunday adds that security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the ceremony proceeds peacefully. President Yoweri Museveni is expected to be the chief guest.
