Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | ABC Capital Bank Limited has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy focused on digital transformation and expanding its retail banking portfolio, following a period of sustained growth and strong financial performance that saw the bank record a 285% increase in Profit After Tax (PAT) in the 2025 financial year.

The performance marks a significant milestone in the bank’s transformation journey and highlights the progress made under a disciplined strategy centred on operational efficiency, sound corporate governance and customer-focused innovation.

According to ABC Capital Bank Chief Executive Officer Chris Kabagambe, the bank has successfully moved from a recovery phase into a sustainable growth trajectory, creating a strong foundation for its next strategic cycle.

“This performance is more than a financial milestone. It is evidence that the foundations we have built are strong and that ABC Capital Bank is well positioned for sustainable growth,” Kabagambe said in a statement dated Aug.7.

He said the bank’s 2026–2028 Strategic Plan is aimed at strengthening its market position through wider access to inclusive financial services, deeper leadership in SME banking and accelerated digital transformation.

“As we reach mid-term of our 2026–2028 strategic cycle, we are focused on strengthening the bank’s market position by expanding access to inclusive financial services, deepening our SME banking leadership, and accelerating digital transformation,” he said.

ABC Capital Bank has established itself as a trusted financial partner for Uganda’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), a sector widely regarded as the backbone of the country’s economy.

The bank now plans to build on this strength by expanding its presence in retail and community banking while continuing to support entrepreneurs and businesses through tailored financial solutions.

Digital transformation is at the centre of the new growth strategy. Planned initiatives include scaling up digital lending, introducing mobile deposit capabilities and rolling out new electronic services to widen access to financial services, particularly in underserved communities.

“Our ambition is to be a trusted financial partner that empowers our customers to achieve their goals while contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s economic development and financial inclusion agenda,” Kabagambe said.

“The future of banking is digital, customer-focused, and inclusive. ABC Capital Bank is committed to leading that future with innovation, integrity, and excellence.”

Beyond digital innovation, the 2026–2028 Strategic Plan reinforces the bank’s commitment to inclusive banking and structured corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The strategy is also expected to strengthen the bank’s corporate credibility, improve customer experience through a modern and accessible banking environment, and increase its brand visibility across key market segments.
