Uganda’s annual headline inflation increases to 10 pct

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Uganda’s annual headline inflation for the year ending in September increased to 10 percent from 9 percent registered in August, Uganda Bureau of Statistics said Friday.

The agency attributed the increase in the headline inflation to rising prices of commodities such as rice and sugar, as well as services, mainly education.

The core inflation, which excludes food and energy, for the year ending in September also increased to 8.1 percent from 7.2 percent recorded in August.

The agency said the annual energy, fuel and utilities inflation decreased to 18.7 percent in the year ending in September, down from 19.6 percent registered in August.
