Kampala, Uganda |  THE INDEPENDENT |  The Uganda Rugby 7s team have been placed in Pool B with Kenya, Canada and Spain for round two of the Emirates Invitational 7s that starts today and ends tomorrow at the Sevens Stadium in Dubai.

The two rounds tournament started last week with fourteen teams invited for the event intended to provide a valuable high-performance opportunity for the participating teams in their preparations for the Olympic rugby sevens competition, which will take place from July 26-31 in Tokyo, Japan.

Uganda started the campaign in round with a poor performance after losing all the games they played  finishing fourth in their pool behind Argentina, Japan and Canada and 7th overall heading into the second window of tournament.

Uganda lost to Argentina in 14-:38 in the opener, before suffering a 40-5 defeat to Canada. They managed to put their act together but lost again 12-19 to Japan.

Coach Tolbert Onyango said yesterday that his boys led by Skipper Michael Wokorach are looking forward for a good performance despite failing to win in the first round.

The team is looking forward to the second round of games. Although we are placed with a very physical Kenya and fast paced Spanish and Canada team, we are ready,” said Onyango.
