Uganda commemorates the East African Community week

By Julius Odeke

The minister for the East African Community, Eriya Kategaya says the purpose as to why there is East African Community week is to provide us with an opportunity to reflect on the commitments we made in the EAC Treaty and to assess the progress made in translating these commitments into concrete actions to benefit the citizenry of the EAC region.

He added that, “It is also an opportunity for enhancing awareness and sensitization activities on Regional Integration issues.”

Kategaya congratulated Ugandans for the achievements made over the past 50 years, saying, “Twelve of which are within the context of the EAC Regional Integration.”

He says Uganda has registered progress, challenges and still looks forward to more prospects that are enshrined socially, economically, culturally and politically.

The EAC community week is scheduled to run from November 1st to 7.
