Three arrested in Busia over possession of military hardware

 

Busia, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Three people have been arrested in Busia after they were reportedly found in possession of military hardware.

The suspects have been identified as Lucas Odiambo, Denis Sande and Catherine Misanya, all residents of Sofia B village, the Eastern division of Busia Municipality. They were arrested on Friday at Plan B Pub.

Moses Johnson Mugwe, the Bukedi region police spokesperson says that the suspects were found in possession of a grenade, one empty magazine and a military uniform that belonging to Kenya security forces.

Mugwe says that they are to ascertain the motive of the suspects.

But Denis Sande the bar owner, says that the items belonged to one of his unidentified clients who forgot them at the bar.

Muhammad Mafaabi, a resident says that the possession of military hardware by civilians poses a security threat.

The suspects were later transferred to Kampala by operatives from the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence for further investigations.
