According to Toodera, preliminarily investigations of the brutal manner in which the officer was killed links the incident to suspected Jie warriors who could have ambushed the prison warder when he was in his garden.

The Uganda Prisons Spokesperson Frank Baine regrets the incident, saying the officer was slain by the assailants who slit the deceased’s throat and caused multiple injuries on the legs and other parts of the body.

Baine says the police canine unit of Kitgum Central Police Station has launched a pursuit and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
