Khartoum, Sudan | Xinhua | Chairman of Sudan’s ruling Transitional Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan on Monday stressed Sudan’s position in condemning all forms of extremism, terrorism and criminal activities.

Al-Burhan made the remarks when addressing a workshop organized by the Committee of Intelligence and Security Services of Africa (CISSA) in Sudan’s capital Khartoum on “Role of Deradicalisation and Rehabilitation in Combating Terrorism.”

“Sudan, like other countries, faces the phenomenon of violent extremism and terrorism,” said Al-Burhan.

“We are making great efforts to combat these phenomena through various means, including the security services, issuing a number of legislation and laws, and ratifying many regional, international and bilateral agreements,” he said.

The Sudanese leader further underscored the CISSA’s role in confronting terrorism, extremism, cross-border crime and illegal immigration as well as overcoming all security challenges in the African Continent.

Established in Nigeria in 2004 to address the security challenges confronting the African Continent, CISSA currently comprises 54 African intelligence bodies.
