Police summons controversial lecturer over Facebook posts

In a letter dated Mar.02, controversial Makerere University lecturer and researcher Stella Nyanzi was invited to the Criminal Investigations Directorate of the Police to answer questions regarding a case of offensive communication and cyber harassment. Nyanzi who was directed to report to the Deputy Director of Investigations office on Mar.07 took to her Facebook wall to respond to the summons in a rather sarcastic and trivial manner talking about the makeup and dress she will wear on that day.

She is known for using her account to speak out sometimes using vulgar language against government officials with her recent victims being First lady Janet Museveni, officials in the human resource department of Makerere University and the Director of Makerere University Institute of Social Research (MISR) Mahmoud Mamdani. Before the University’s decision to reinstate her recently, Nyanzi had been suspended over disciplinary issues after she engaged in a nude protest against what she referred to as impunity at MISR.
