Kampala, Uganda  | THE INDEPENDENT |  Police on have received the Closed Circuit Television –CCTV footage of the killers of Rodgers Nasasira, a security guard at Good Neighbours a Non-Governmental Organisation –NGO in Bukasa-Muyenga, in Kampala.

Nasasira was found dead by workmates who arrived at the office at around 7 am but there was no one to open the gates as it had been the norm. Upon pushing the gate, they realised it had been opened.

Police detectives from Kabalagala division combed the area in an attempt of getting clues on who the killers were but their efforts were fruitless. They pleaded to neighbours in the area whose buildings are erected with CCTV cameras.

Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, told Uganda Radio Network –URN investigators have since acquired the footage showing how the thugs ransacked the premises.

“Investigations are still on-going and we have received the footage we wanted. Our team is reviewing the footage and very soon we shall have the suspects arrested,” Onyango said.

The yet to be identified thugs raided Good Neighbours on March 4, stealing eight laptops and other items. Good Neighbours is majorly known for advocating for children’s rights and providing reasonable aide to youngsters in need.

Onyango said the guard was attached to Security 2000 Company even though his bosses declined to speak to the media. Locals said they heard mild murmurs and breakings in the wee hours.

Last year thugs shot dead a security guard, Silas Tumwesigye, at Sals hotel along the Ntinda-Kiwatule road in Kampala. Deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, said Ntinda police responded to the attack and killed the suspected thug in gunfire exchange at Ntinda-Kyambogo sector near Uganda Business and Technical Examination (UBTEB) offices.

Police recovered the firearm used by the thug whose identity was established. Police established that the gun was stolen from Corporal Ulia Bongo who was stabbed days before Tumwesigye’s murder.
