Parliament week: Speaker calls for albino employment

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga

Parliament started it’s events to mark the ‘parliament week’ on Feb. 05 with a walk to raise funds to establish a rehabilitation center for albinos.

As the chief walker Speaker Rebecca Kadaga decried the high price of body creams by people living with albinism for their skins can be badly affected by weather conditions sometimes leading to skin cancer.  “Sunscreen is being treated as a cosmetic which is highly taxed yet it should be considered a drug because albinos need it due to their sensitive skin condition,” she said adding that albinos should be encouraged to apply for jobs in parliamentary service.

The events of the week which included opening parliament for the public to tour were held under the theme, engaging the public in a people-centered Parliament.
