Parliament set to honor Nebanda today

Parliament will today holds a special session to pay tribute to the late Butaleja district Woman MP Cerinah Nebanda who died Friday evening.

Helen Kawesa the public relations manager announced earlier that the fallen legislator’s body would arrive at Parliament at 10:00am for public viewing followed by a special session in the afternoon.


Kawesa said in a statement that Hon. Nebanda will always be remembered as a vivacious and outspoken MP. May the almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace and may he strengthen the bereaved.

The day starts off with a requiem mass at 9:00am at Christ the King Church Kampala, after which the cortege proceeds to Parliament where the body will lie in state.

After the session, Nebanda’s body will be taken to her mother’s home in Entebbe, Wakiso district for a night vigil, before being transported to Butaleja on Wednesday where the body  is expected be laid to rest at Hutungu cell village on Thursday.

Police is still carrying out investigations on what killed the youthful legislator who has been one of NRM’s most vocal members on the controversial oil debate in the 9th Parliament.
