Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Captain Mike Mukula, the former Soroti Municipality Member of Parliament is feuding with the family of the late Ibrahim Musoke over 30 acres of land. The contested land is found in Aminit cell in Madera ward in Northern division of Soroti municipality.

Musoke’s family accuses Mukula of using underhand methods to deprive them of their land. Ayub Ssegawa and Hadija Mukasa, both Musoke’s children claim that Mukula bought the contested land from the late Fazil Ali, a squatter without their knowledge.

They claim that their late father allowed Ali to temporally settle on the land because he was his mechanic.

They claim that the late Ali secretly surveyed the disputed land following the death of their father who left them young. Musoke’s family faults Mukula for declining to negotiate with them to harmonize the dispute over the land.

Soroti Catholic Diocese also claims to have paid for part of the disputed land, which Mukula claims to have acquired more than 20 years ago. Mukula resurveyed the contested land recently and deployed guards from Arrow Group Security to watch over it.

He insists that he bought the contested land long ago, arguing that whoever is dissatisfied should follow legal procedures. Mukula notes that he has no problem with the church because his land is different from the one the church bought.
